Junk cars that are no longer running or drivable can become eyesores in the driveway, take up space you need for something else, or violate the rules of the HOA (homeowners association) where you live. Finding a way to remove the vehicle and get some cash for junk cars is not difficult if you know who to call when you are ready to get rid of the vehicle.

Car Removal Services

There are many services that pay cash for junk cars that are legitimate businesses. These services can come and get the car, often pay cash for the vehicle based on the condition and the number of good parts on it, and may offer to remove it the same day.

The car removal services make money from the scrap metal on the car, so often, the vehicle's condition is not that critical. A car involved in a collision may have the same scrap value as a car with a straight body that needs repairs that are too expensive to make.

The service provider will usually come to you, evaluate the vehicle, and pay cash for the junk car on the spot. The service will then haul it away on a wrecker or tow truck. In some cases, you need a title to transfer to the service, but because they are not fixing the cars for use on the road, often they do not need it.

Donating Your Car

You may have an old car that is not worth repairing that you want to donate to a charity. Many large charities accept these vehicles and work with a local salvage yard or scrap yard to process the vehicle, and they get cash for junk cars that goes back to the charity.

The charity then issues a receipt for the vehicle's value that you can use for a charitable donation come tax time. The exact worth is not always known when the car is donated, so many charities offer you a specific amount for the donation receipt no matter what condition the vehicle is in.

The charitable organization will organize the vehicle removal, so all you need to do is let them know where to find it and when to tow it away. Keep in mind that there is not going to be any cash changing hands, but the money you make will be real through the reduction of taxes and could have a significant impact on the charity, even if you think there is not a lot of value to the junk car or truck.

If you want to learn more about selling junk cars for cash, talk to a junkyard near you.
